A wider platform helps with floatation in off-trail situations.

    I purchased these in the 2010-2011 season, without first trying them - not always a good idea, but sometimes necessary for good Internet deals. We don't get much ice and I avoid moguls now that I am ancient. I mostly used them in bounds, off piste on new powder days or else for back country (older Fritschi Freeride bindings). I really found them to be excellent in all conditions to which I subjected them. They were probably a bit short for me, but that was not a problem at the speeds I ski.

    At about the same time I bought a different brand of ski for my wife. Unfortunately, she hated them and confiscated my Sultan 80s - which she loves, so I'll not get them back. I've replaced them with a somewhat longer pair of 2011 Legend Sultan 80s which I'll review after further use.
