Product Info

Returning for 2014, the award-winning Blizzard Cochise Skis are one of the best "one ski quivers" on the market. The rocker/flat/rocker profile with Flipcore Technology is the key. Rocker in the tip and tail provides easy turn initiation and powder performance, while the flat midsection enables incredibly smooth edge to edge transitions and carving on hardpack. All of this is enabled by Blizzard's unique flipcore technology, in which traditional cambered cores have been flipped for a more natural rocker molding process. Take the Blizard Cochise Skis out for a spin and see for yourself what all the buzz is about.

Product Details

Rocker Type

Rocker/Flat/RockerTip and tail rocker with a flat section underfoot enables smooth turn initiation in any conditions.

Core

Flipcore 3D TechnologyUnlike most other companies, who start with a cambered core and "bend" it in the mold to create a rockered ski, Blizzard starts with a rockered core and components in the first place - everything goes into the press in the same shape as it comes out. Sound like marketing BS? Sure, except for the fact the the Flipcore skis have received almost universal praise from experts in their short time on the market. Maybe Blizzard is onto something here . . .

Poplar-Bamboo-Paulownia-ISO-Woodcore

Laminates

Spaceframe 3D2 Titanal laminate layers with strategic cutouts provide optimum swing weight, balanced flex, improved torsional transmission and reduced vibration.

Sidewalls

Sandwich Compound Sidewall (Ti)

Base

Strong Graphite Base

Binding Compatibility

We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

Comments about Blizzard Cochise Skis 2014:

I got this ski to use as on days when we have soft snow in Tahoe or Utah. Overall, it is excellent for this use. The ski floats amazingly well in powder and busts through crud like no other. On groomed runs with softer snow, the skis track amazingly well and have great carving ability. However, I haven't really been able to hook into carved turns on ice, which is to be expected with this style of ski. Overall, I think this could be a great mid-season one ski quiver for someone who spends most of their time off-piste.

Comments about Blizzard Cochise Skis 2014:

So, these planks are one of my favoritest pairs ever. I have the 193's (which are noticeably longer than my Atomic Automatics of the same size), however, there are circumstances where I wish I had the shorter, 185, model. These things are FAST. Very, very fast. So, when you mix the length of the ski with its desire to go a billion mph, you can end up in situations where they are somewhat of a pain in the back crack (edited for EVO)... Tight trees on a deathly steep slope at Red Mountain in BC is one scenario that comes to mind. However, with that said, in most conditions these things just plain and simply rip. Chutes, bowls, steeps, etc... YES, PLEASE! They are great in most snow except the wet heavy stuff - the rocker tip is fairly subtle and makes you have to lean back a tad to stay on top of the snow that inhabits the PNW and late spring season... Last spring I skied them at Red Mountain, Whitewater, Schweitzer, and Big Sky. I had the most fun with them at Big Sky and skied them 3 days straight, picking them over the other skis in my quiver. Off the tram they destroyed in the sidecountry and the liberty bowl off the backside... they rallied through icy spring crude and handled jumps and landings with awesome stability. Great ski, not for every condition, but when they sing, they sing better than most.
