Atomic Smoke Ti Skis + XTO 12 Bindings 2012

Perfect for the intermediate exploring the entire mountain, the Atomic Smoke Ti Skis + XTO 12 Bindings have a 77mm waist that is wide enough to provide a good stable feel on choppy or bumped out snow pack but narrow enough to be effortless on hardpack and groomed snow. Step Down Sidewall construction makes the Smoke Ti’s forgiving in the tip and tail and when combined with Adaptive Rocker shape, the slight rise in the tip and tail that allows easy turn initiation in any type of snow. A layer of titanium eats up the vibration when skiing off-piste.
Shape
Adaptive Rocker profile has a slight rise to the tip of the ski that allows the Smoke Ti to initiate a turn in any type of snow for all-mountain versatility while camber underfoot provides stability and pop.
Construction
Step Down Sidewall construction has a sidewall underfoot and cap in the tip and tail so the Smoke Ti’s have huge edge hold but is forgiving
Bindings
The XTO 12 Protrak Bindings help the Smoke Ti respond even faster with a lift system that makes edge control and transition much less difficult.
Other Features
Core and Flex Pattern-A cap fiber core with a layer of Titanium stabilizes the vibration and chatter that inconsistent snow creates when skiing off-piste
Lightweight with a smooth damp fell
Included Bindings
Bindings do not come mounted to the skis. Always have a certified technician mount and adjust the bindings.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Carving
    All-Mountain
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
    Carving
For those that like the classic feeling of laying a ski over on edge and arcing a perfect turn, carving skis are what you want. These skis have narrower waists and shorter turn radii for edge to edge quickness and responsive turn initiation and exit on groomed runs and hard pack. The beginner-intermediate skis in this category are designed to make learning how to turn as easy as going from pizza to French fries.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber
    Rocker/Camber
Rocker/Camber skis pair a traditional cambered profile underfoot with an elongated, early rise tip borrowed from fully rockered skis. This profile places the front contact point further back from the tip, while the rear contact point remains close to the tail. The rockered tip allows for better flotation and less edge catch for increased float in deep snow, while the cambered rear stores and transmits energy similarly to a fully cambered ski.
  • Turning Radius: Short
  • Core/Laminates: Metal
  • Tail Type: Flat
    Flat
This is your traditional tail, designed to have edge contact all the way through the tail, and only designed for skiing forward. This is also preferred for alpine touring, as you can stick the tails of your skis in the snow.

Comments about Atomic Smoke Ti Skis + XTO 12 Bindings 2012:

I bought this ski specifically to teach skiing and to train with for to he next level of ski instruction certification here in New Zealand. This ski definitely meets that does that job very well. It is a traditional camber ski with a short turn radius and small(er) underfoot. Great for doing instructional demonstrations on piste / groomed terrain.

I would recommend this ski as an everyday ski for those looking to stay mostly on the trails and as teaching skis for ski instructors. I do not think this ski is big enough to really get rad with off piste or in deep power. Those skiing the East coast may love this ski.

Comments about Atomic Smoke Ti Skis + XTO 12 Bindings 2012:

In my haste to purchase this gift, I inadvertently ordered the wrong size! You can imagine my upset when this happened just 6 days before Christmas! I returned to Evo and their "no hassle" return went without a hiccup! I never intended to return the skis, but having made the mistake on size, I was anxious to do so and quick! I'm happy to report that I did order a different ski and it arrived before Christmas, as promised. Thank you Evo!!!
