Atomic Blog Skis 2012

The Atomic Blog Skis were born for going big and killing it everywhere from powder days to backcountry booters. Its super-floaty 110mm waist and powder-munching rocker design crave fields and spines steep enough to make a stunt pilot giddy. A tip-to-tail wood core provides a stable, responsive flex and traditional camber underfoot maximizes edge hold and pop. The rockered tip and tail ease upward for flotation in the deep stuff, and a unique Step-Down Sidewall construction places a half-cap construction at the tip and tail for durability and impact resistance.
Shape
Early rise in the tip and tail enhances powder skiing forward or switch
Traditional camber underfoot enhances edge grip on firm snow
Directional twin tip design offers increased performance in varied snow conditions and during backcountry freestyle maneuvers
Construction
Sidewall construction ensures maximum torsional rigidity, uncanny edge grip and controlled tip-to-tail flex
Sidewall is reinforced in binding area with 3 layers
Half cap construction in the tip and tail reduces swing weight and chipping when skis bang together
Graphite base that tunes beautifully and accepts wax readily
Flex
Wood core provides smooth handling at high speeds and in deep powder snow
Binding Compatibility
We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2012:

ski: 185cm Blog mounted on the team line with atomic ffg 16 bindings.
tester: 5'10" 155lb PNW pow hunter.
The blogs are just easy to ski in every condition. Ideal for traveling because of their all mountain versatility. My first day on the blogs it was storming 6'' new on crust. I missed the float of the bent chetlers but the increased edge contact was nice for the hard stuff underneath the pow. The skis were ideal for packed powder and slushy snow. I especially enjoyed the edge to edge quickness while billy goating down tight chutes at Squaw. The blogs are not pow skis, not chargers, and not carving skis, but they do all these things quite well. I would recommend them for a quiver of one or an all mountain traveling ski.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2012:

The Blog is a "no surprises" ski. It skis a range of snow predictably. It is loose when you want it. It'll go up on edge when you want it. I'm a 210lbs, 55 years old enthusiastic off piste skier and for my weight it didn't want to be pushed "too hard" While this is a nice ski I think the BentChetler is a better for as a deep PNW ski.

      Atomic Blog Review

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2012:

The Atomic Blog comes back for another year with a fresh graphic. For me this is the perfect all mountain ski. A small amount of rocker tip and tail just a little taper and tons of pop. It is the perfect addition to a rockered pow ski. At 110mm in the waist it skis all over from junk and crud,to groomers to the park. I think it will be awesome in the spring time too. The flex is nice, it has a lot of rebound, snap and energy. I think it would be the ski to take on a trip, not knowing what the conditions may be like it will still be a blast on whatever they are.

The Atomic Blog is fast! I can fly through crud and carve on groomers. A really fun ski but I wish it was a little more playful in the tips and tails. A little too stiff for me.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2012:

This is a dreamy ski and could be enjoyed by not only experts but by intermediates who are on top of their game. The quick turning radius for a 110mm under foot allows those who sometimes panic skid to be comfortable on these boards. The rocker is perfect for Jay Peak-type skiers who do it in the woods in 10 to 40 inches of nice cold powder. It smoothens out the rough and ready type skiers.

bought this ski as sort of an all terrain ski, already owned some fat powder skis and I bought these Atomic Blogs with the expectations of using them as my second pair of skis. They ride well on the groomer and in powder, and carve excellently, love the small amount of rocker there is in the skis, and the design looks radical too!

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2012:

I use the Blog mostly for trips where I am uncertain of the ski conditions, mostly in the alps. I have used this ski in powder and on days were I was skiing mostly groomers. This ski works really well in powder as it gives you great float and a nice pop and ease when skiing powder, although it does feel like it lacks float when in really deep powder. This ski completely blew me away on the groomers I was expecting average, more like it would be ok to ride on groomers but you wouldn't want to a lot. They are actually great on groomers with a suprising amount of edge hold. If I had more choice as to when I went skiing and what the conditions would be like I may have gotten the Bent Chetlers but the Blogs are great as an all mountain ski.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2012:

For those that like a ski that can do it all, but don't want to ride a 120mm waisted ski every day, the Blog will do it all. Like its bigger brother, the Bent Chetler, the Blog is powerful and playful everywhere. It has a great combination of camber underfoot, rocker in the tip and tail, and some early taper to make it easy it turn and that much smoother in powder. If you only want to own one ski to do everything, put this at the top of your list.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2012:

This is my second year skiing the Atomic Blog. I love it. I am 5'7", 140lbs skiing the 177cm Blog. I love how this ski is responsive and will carve a turn because of the camber underfoot but still feels playful and loose with the tip and tail rocker. I ski predominately in the Pacific Northwest and I am happy on this ski in 99% of the conditions here. The tops of the tips tend to chip a little bit but it doesn't effect the way the ski skis. The only change to the ski this year is the graphic which is now a ferocious purple and green wolf with a matte finish. I am on the hunt for the perfect gas station wolf t-shirt to match.

Love these skis for backcountry access. Bought some new Fritschi Freerides for 'em and they have been an awesome all around one-for-all ski/binding combo. Recommend mounting approx 1 cm back from "Team" mark for best all around use (little/no switch landings). Buy em!

These are great skis. I have demoed a lot of different types of skis but the atomic blog provided great floatation in the pow but can still kill it on the groomers. The blog is light weight making easy to take of jumps and do spins. Overall this is a great ski for the guy who wants a pow ski that he can use all the time. If you are an medium to advanced skiing over 5'10 I would buy 185s.

Great ski for a daily driver but this ski gets BAD tip dive. I normally mount at +5 but on this I've had to go back at about 1cm behind team centre (about 6cm back from where i normally like). Great in the powder once you know how to control the tip dive. I've had to adjust the way i ski a little in the deep stuff. Great charger though and works well in all conditions. A great single ski quiver.
