Product Details

Rocker Type

EST Freeride RockerThe best of all worlds. Rockered tips and tails combined with positive camber underfoot to promote flotation in soft snow and provide remarkable edge control on the harder stuff.

Flex

Flex Pattern - Tip: 5.5, Waist: 6.5, Tail: 6 (1=soft; 10=stiff)

Shape

Tapered Tip and Tail5 dimension ski with the tip and tail narrower than the contact points

Dimensions (tip/contact point/waist/contact point/tail)126/136/115/133/123 mm

Core

Hybrid UltraLight CoreLaminated lightweight wood core with pre-installed ABS layers laid alongside, directly under foot.

Laminates

Laminate MatrixDeliberate directional layering of fiberglass dictates flex pattern and torsional rigidity and allows each ski's flex to be precisely tuned. Bi-axial fiberglass runs in an “x” pattern down the ski to control lateral flex; Uni-directional fiberglass controls flex along the length of the ski; Tri-axial fiberglass, with fibers running in three directions, beefs up the center of the ski.

CK StringerCarbon Kevlar combo stringers lie on top of the laminate matrix along the tail to brace the ski. This increases the landing platform, especially when weight is distributed farther back in the ski than intended. It also gives the ski more pop and extends ski life.

Sidewalls

AR50 Sidewall ConstructionABS sidewall meets cap construction – the best of both worlds. This engineering method combines the lightweight cap construction in the tip and tail with ABS sidewall underfoot, resulting in enhanced edgehold and significantly lower swing and overall weight.

Base

50/50 BaseA blend of speed and durability, this base is faster than Armada’s S7 base but more rugged than the Comp series.

Edges

1.7 Impact EdgeThe edge height and width is deliberately smaller and the steel is heat-treated to a proprietary hardness to increase durability and decrease weight.

Binding Compatibility

Bindings not included

We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

Comments about Armada VJJ Skis - Women's 2013:

    This ski RIPS.
I'm a ski tester so I get to try a bunch of stuff out, and the VJJ has been my quiver ski for 2 going on 3 seasons now (I just bought another pair to replace the last pair that was THRASHED).
I used them as an everyday ski out in Utah, they are incredibly versatile for how fat they are.

Forgiving, snappy, floaty, FUN! They can rail on groomers decently well considering how fat they are. I've logged over 150 days on VJJs and they still continue to thrill and amaze.

I sized WAY up since the rockered tips and tails make this ski feel significantly shorter combined with the lightweight construction.
I'm 5'3" advanced skier and could not be happier with the 175cm length.

Some of my ex-racer friends dislike the VJJ because it does have a softer flex. If you like a stiffer ski this may not be your match made in heaven, but I just love it to death.
