Armada JJ Skis 2011: The Armada JJ remains without a peer in back and sidecountry versatility. Thanks to the creatively applied EST Freeride Rocker and profile geometry, the Armada JJ Ski surfs to the cat track and carves to the lift.

  • Flex Rating:Tip: 6, Waist: 7, Tail: 6.5 (1 Soft – 10 Stiff)
  • Core and Flex Pattern:Built to dominate the mountain and excel on powder, the slightly higher flex combines with the UltraLight core (two high density wood stringers that sit along ultralight wood) to create a light core with pop and solid edge hold, while keeping swing and overall weight down. Bi-axial fiberglass runs in an “x” pattern down the ski to control lateral flex. Uni-directional fiberglass controls flex along the length of the ski. And tri-axial fiberglass, with fibers running in three directions, beefs up the center of the ski.
  • Construction:AR50 is ABS sidewall meets cap construction – the best of both worlds. This engineering method combines the lightweight cap construction in the tip and tail with ABS sidewall underfoot, resulting in enhanced and significantly lower swing and overall weight. As the name implies, the 50/50 base is faster and more rugged than any other base Armada offers. A blend of Carbon/Kevlar stringers run along the tail of the skis to help stabilize it. This creates a better landing platform, especially when your weight is further back than intended. It also increases snap and adds pop to ollies.
  • Shape:The 1.7 edge height and width is deliberately smaller and the steel is heat-treated to a proprietary hardness to increase durability and decrease weight. The JJ has a unique shape that tapers in, then out, then in and out again. Therefore, it has unique measurements: 126-136-115-133-121 (185cm), 126-136-115-133-121 (175cm) // The EST Freeride Rocker is the best of all worlds. Rockered tips and tails combined with positive camber underfoot promote floatation in soft snow and provide remarkable edge control in the harder stuff.
  • Binding Compatibility:Requires a binding brake width between 115mm and 125mm

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2011:

This ski is unchanged from the 08/09 season. i rode it all last winter and was the only ski in my quiver. This ski rides as well, if not better, than any pow ski but is capable of so much more, the huge early rise tips refuse to dive both forward and switch(its wider at the tail making it more versatile, not to mention cheaper and way doper than the s7). it charges big lines fast, makes quik turns through the trees even on the deepest days, holds its edge on the icey traverses to your stash and plows through crud. aside from the off piste this ski makes awsome GS carve turns. The 5 point sidecut really makes this two skis in one. I got used to using it for everything until no other ski would do it for me. Also if ur over 5' go with the 185 as it skis like a 150 on the groomers. And mount it 4cm from true centre(1cm forward of the recomended point), i found that perfect for forward and switch riding in pow and on firm snow. I am so happy for anyone who buys this ski

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2011:

This ski rocks! After doing some research this was the ski that fit all my needs and wants. I needed something in my quiver that I could use all the time. It tears the corduroy and floats like a boat in the POWPOW! It soars like an eagle, spins like a top, and has the shortest turn radius I've ever seen. 12m(175cm); 14m(185cm) This thing can turn on a dime, that last minute I'm going left around that tree...nah I'll go right!! Split second choices are not an issue with this bad-boy! Tanner's choice...this ski...this ski right here! This, is THE BEST SKI IN THE WORLD!

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2011:

I bought these skis at the beginning of the 09/10 season after umming and ahhing over several different models..

All i can say is: Once in your life you find a ski that you love more than your missus and this is it for me!

Believe the hype, it does it ALL! Shred the pow, blast through the crud and rail the groomers. Great spring slush ski too!

You can find more floaty skis for the powder but this is truly an all mountain shredder!I will have a pair of these in my quiver till the day i die.. Or until Armada makes something better!

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2011:

I use the JJ for everyday shredding around the resort, and for backcountry jumping and jibbing. Having early rise on both the tip and tail coupled with tapering side cut provides versatility unmatched with any other ski. Whenever I am unsure as to what the snow is like, the JJ is my go to ski. I would recommend this ski to anyone who needs one good all around ski. If you already have your all around ski, I would further recommend this ski as your pow specific ski, as it performs like no other.

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2011:

Last year, Armada changed the game by introducing the new JJ, a powder ski that will surf when it's deep and actually hold an edge on the groom. In 2008-09, only a few skis such as the Armada JJ and the Rossignol S7 had tip and tail rocker, with camber underfoot. The performance of a ski designed like this cannot be understated when skiing resorts in the west. Floats through the powder all morning, then kills it in the chop and groom in the afternoon. It is no surprise that more manufacturer's are producing a ski with similar camber design this year (see Atomic Bent Chetler, 4frnt CRJ, Salmon Shogun, etc.).

If you are looking for an all around powder ski, you cannot go wrong with JJ. Armada continues to lead the way in creative ski shape and camber configurations-and introducing these to the industry first. Remember that with the rocker, you'll want to about 5-10cm of extra length compared to what you're used to riding. That said, the 185s were sold out by early December last year, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen again.

I am a 5'8" female who skis Steamboat and LOVE the JJs. I ski the 175 length and have found this ski to excel in nearly every condition. I could not be happier with this ski. If you can get your hands on a pair go for it!

I mounted a set of Rossignol FKS 140 pivot bindings - which make this ski light and floaty. I LOVE THIS SETUP!

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2011:

If I wake up, and the mountain cam at Stevens isn't really showing much, or I'm making the drive up to Mt. Baker where their forecasts are not always accurate, the JJ is my go to ski. While it is a no brainer that this ski excels in waist deep powder while dropping cliffs or smashing lines, what really surprises me is the stability it provides in the crud. The width underfoot, coupled with the early rise of the Elf Shoe Technology allows this ski to outperform its competitors all over the mountain, in variable conditions.

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2011:

First impression of the ski was "stiff and way too short" I was so wrong! This ski skis everything! But it's built for the soft stuff, ripping tight turns through the trees, or charging straight lines through the choppy skied out [*]. The ski is super stiff under foot, then from the taper in the front it gets a lot softer. So basically the rocker is soft and allows the ski to float while underfoot the ski doesn't give up the benefits of a stiff powerful ski.The combination of taper and rocker makes it ski insanely short! I found this was great when navigating tight turns through trees or bumps although it still seemed to lack responsiveness on the groomers but that is to be expected from a powder ski.Overall this ski rips! I loved it. Could definitely ski it every day regardless of conditions. Just don't get anything shorter than the 185, not only does the ski ski really short, its shorter then my 179 obsethed. Hey Armada where's the 191's…? Got a question feel free to shoot it my way.Names Cliff, [@]
