Product Info

Armada goes mondo with the AK JJ, with the same style and agility that makes the JJ so great, but longer and fatter to produce the most versatile premium powder ski on the market. Built with the EST Freeride Rocker, the Armada AK JJ Skis dominate deep snow and still rip the hardpack. The AK JJ pushes the envelope of big mountain powder skiing, and if you're going there (AK, that is) you owe it to yourself to have this board in your bag.

Product Details

Rocker Type

EST Freeride RockerThe best of all worlds. Rockered tips and tails combined with positive camber underfoot to promote flotation in soft snow and provide remarkable edge control on the harder stuff.

Flex Pattern - Tip: 6, Waist: 7, Tail: 6.5 (1=soft; 10=stiff)

Slightly stiffer feel than the traditional JJ

Tapered Tip and Tail5 dimension ski with the tip and tail narrower than the contact points

Dimensions (tip/contact point/waist/contact point/tail)131/141/120/138/128 mm

Hybrid Ultralight CoreUltralight core using select wood stringers that have unusually high strength-to-weight ratios, UltraLight cores allow our widest skis to maintain a light-yet-stable feel.

Laminate MatrixDeliberate directional layering of fiberglass dictates flex pattern and torsional rigidity and allows each ski's flex to be precisely tuned. Bi-axial fiberglass runs in an “x” pattern down the ski to control lateral flex; Uni-directional fiberglass controls flex along the length of the ski; Tri-axial fiberglass, with fibers running in three directions, beefs up the center of the ski.

CK StringerCarbon Kevlar combo stringers lie on top of the laminate matrix along the tail to brace the ski. This increases the landing platform, especially when weight is distributed farther back in the ski than intended. It also gives the ski more pop and extends ski life.

AR50 Sidewall ConstructionABS sidewall meets cap construction – the best of both worlds. This engineering method combines the lightweight cap construction in the tip and tail with ABS sidewall underfoot, resulting in enhanced edgehold and significantly lower swing and overall weight.

50/50 BaseA blend of speed and durability, this base is faster than Armada’s S7 base but more rugged than the Comp series.

1.7 Impact EdgeThe edge height and width is deliberately smaller and the steel is heat-treated to a proprietary hardness to increase durability and decrease weight.

Armada AKJJ

Comments about Armada AK JJ Skis 2013:

Armada's AKJJ had been a ski I've wanted to ride for a long time, so when finally given the chance, it did not dissapoint. At 120mm underfoot and 195cm in length I was a little cautious on a day with nothing but ice and groomers. Thankfully that caution turned out to be unwarrented as the JJs killed it at high speed and through sharp, quick turns. Not once did I feel unnerved in losing an edge or missing a turn. They effortlessly went where I wanted without much thought, which is exactly what I want in a ski. A half hour on the Armadas may have just changed my perspective on a new set-up for next year. Hopefully one of these days I'll actually be able to jump on them with some fresh pow.

Comments about Armada AK JJ Skis 2013:

The AK JJ skis very well ongroomers given it;s width. I was not able to test its soft snow performance but they skied well, preferring short turns. Playful and snappy.

Great ski to charge rough lines. Also a fun alpine touring ski even though it's heavy.
