4FRNT EHP Skis 2011: Eric Hjoleifson designed the 4FRNT EHP Skis with a goal to create a ski that utilizes the concept behind reverse camber/side-cut skis but still incorporates traditional ski design to provide a versatile stable platform in all types of snow. The long gradual tip/tail radius/shape gives the ski great floatation in powder and enables you to wash, plane and scrub your turns creating a surf-like sensation. This long tip/tail shape also gives the 4FRNT EHP Skis a shorter running surface making them more responsive and easier to turn on hard snow. The tail shape was designed to maximize performance in powder snow. The pintail shape sinks into the snow allowing a more forward mounting position giving the ski a much more responsive, centered and balanced feel.

Construction
Deflect ABS sidewalls have ABS premium blend material, stiff and supportive to maximize edge grip. Tri bevel finish supports performance and protects against topsheet chipping. The Q45 Weave is a high performance 45° tri-layering of glass fibers which makes skis longitudinally and torsionally stiff. The Q-45 Weave allows skis to respond well to variable snow conditions, high speeds and hard riding. 4FRNT’s GLOSSTOP topsheet material is the ultimate top foil. The crystal clear glossy finish makes the graphics pop off the ski with brilliant color, while the 45° edge bevel minimizes chipping. GLOSSTOP scratch resistant surface defends against scrape marks and helps to keep your skis looking crisp and clean throughout the winter.
Flex
Megablock core is made of Ash and Beech to create the most dense and damp core composition used for all mountain dominance. The X4 Dampening system is a full perimeter layer of elastometric rubber foil that is laminated between the metal edge, fiberglass and wood core. The X4 system creates unmatched stability and a smooth ride, especially at high speeds.

Comments about 4FRNT EHP Skis 2011:

I ski a variety of terrain, snow quality, and weather, and wanted a ski that could handle a variety of conditions. These are rockered and fat (116 mm at the waist), so naturally do well in powder. They float nicely and don't dive. Despite the shape, however, they also turn quickly, in all conditions. Yesterday I skied some nice icy moguls at Squaw and these things grabbed whatever they could get and turned like slalom skis. Extremely stable.

Overall, I think these skis are great (which is consistent with the reviews). My only less positive comment is that they want to be skied hard and aggressively, and if you're not paying attention, they will be off to the races before you've tuned in.

Comments about 4FRNT EHP Skis 2011:

I am a bigger heavier guy than the typical skier these days (6'3" 230lb). I have been looking for a ski with these dimensions to use for most days. I looked at the Hell Bent, Obsethed, EP Pro, Bacon, Bentchetler, etc... They all felt very soft and most of them only come up to around 185cm. I found the answer in the 193 EHP. They hold a solid stable edge on groomers, very playfull in deep snow and cut up areas with deep pockets. They even handled moguls very well, the raised tip and tail make it very easy to enter a trough and release a turn without jarring you forward. My favorite thing is the versatilty all around. Perfect ski for the NW!

Comments about 4FRNT EHP Skis 2011:

I bought these for skiing out west (I primarily ski the east coast). Haven't tried them on anything deeper than 2" so far, just tried to get a feel for them before my CO trip. I was surprised at how well they performed in the awful conditions this winter. They held well on ice, and blasted through all the crud. Surprisingly nimble for 116 underfoot (normally ski 80). You have to be on top of these skis though, if you aren't aggressive they will dominate you. Can't wait to get these in some pow! skier: 5'7" 150lb skiing 178cm.
