As the youth ski in the women's Joy series, the Head First Joy LR Skis + LRX 7.5 Bindings are ready to rip! The importance of junior equipment is often overlooked when, in reality, kids are instant and fierce judges of their gear. The whole family can be back in the car and on their way home when the little miss's gear doesn't work. That's why Head has done everything they can to make the First Joy skis the perfect skis for the aspiring mini shredder. With Junior Rocker and ERA 2.0, the skis have a forgiving and beginner-friendly shape that can slice through soft snow, yet hold an edge in firm conditions. Set up the young lady with a pair of skis that will spark her love for skiing.
Rocker Type
Junior Rocker - For perfect allride performance. With 20% rocker and 80% camber, kids get tons of float, easy turn initiation, and plenty of speed and control. Head's Junior Rocker works for anyone, anywhere.
ERA 2.0 - The little brother of ERA 3.0 and is everything the 3.0 has to offer as far as design, performance and geometry integration, but without the addition of "Rebound" with its piezoelectric Intellifibers.
Junior Power Frame - A geometric ski shape that provides structural strength to the outer edges of the ski through geometric design, as opposed to altering the core material or density of the ski. Also, for kids it looks cool and feels different than a standard flat ski.
E Base Black - Basic black never goes out of style, and it's always durable. Easy gliding is everyone's friend.
Additional Features
LiteRail - Due to three different mid parts, LiteRail covers boot sole lengths ranging from 199 to 347 mm. Covering this large mounting range LiteRail is perfectly suited for kids, juniors, as well as adults.
Included Bindings
Bindings Do Not Come Mounted to Skis - Always have a certified binding technician mount and adjust your bindings.
Includes LRX 7.5 Bindings - Bindings must be mounted and adjusted prior to use.

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Carving
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
For those that like the classic feeling of laying a ski over on edge and arcing a perfect turn, carving skis are what you want. These skis have narrower waists and shorter turn radii for edge to edge quickness and responsive turn initiation and exit on groomed runs and hard pack. The beginner-intermediate skis in this category are designed to make learning how to turn as easy as going from pizza to French fries.
  • Ability Level: Beginner-Intermediate
Someone who is new to the sport or working on linking smoother turns falls into this ability level. Typical beginner ski/snowboard qualities include: softer materials, narrower widths, and capped constructions. The idea is to create a ride that is easy to turn and very forgiving in case you become off balance or fall in the back seat. The addition of rocker in the tip and tail gives a catch-free feeling and shorter contact length when the ski/snowboard is flat on the snow, making it easier to turn.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber
Rocker/Camber skis pair a traditional cambered profile underfoot with an elongated, early rise tip borrowed from fully rockered skis. This profile places the front contact point further back from the tip, while the rear contact point remains close to the tail. The rockered tip allows for better flotation and less edge catch for increased float in deep snow, while the cambered rear stores and transmits energy similarly to a fully cambered ski.
  • Turning Radius: Short
  • Tail Type: Flat
This is your traditional tail, designed to have edge contact all the way through the tail, and only designed for skiing forward. This is also preferred for alpine touring, as you can stick the tails of your skis in the snow.

  • DIN / Release Value High: 7.5
