The Super Alpine features a GORE-TEX® 3-Layer construction, which provides you with the best waterproof/breathable protection available. The high preforming GORE-TEX® Membrane is bonded to the inner lining, eliminating movement between the 3 layers for even greater durability. The Patagonia Super Alpine Jacket is a modern day suit of armor.

3-Layer GORE-TEX® Pro Fabric

Deluge® DWR (durable water repellent) Finish - Patagonia's proprietary durable water repellent fabric finish, Deluge® DWR, lasts substantially longer than a standard DWR's. Garments with the Deluge® DWR finish have like-new repellency after years of extensive use.

GORE-TEX® Membrane - A high performance membrane bonded to a tough outer material and a specially developed robust inner lining: the benefit is no movement between the three layers, which means less wear and tear and even greater durability.

Comments about Patagonia Super Alpine Jacket:

I have found a new go to jacket. I thought the Arc'teryx Beta AR was perfect but this one is even better. This is the perfect 3 season storm shell. It fits over an insulating layer. The pockets are well placed and the pit zips are so easy to use with one hand. The inside pocket works well for holding keys or other small items.

The only other con is that some people might not like the bright colors.

I am 5'11" and 180 lbs and a large provides room for a softshell underneath in the winter without being too large without.
