Face Fabric

Intuitive™ Fabric: 3-layer Nylon DobbyFlylow created their proprietary Intuitive™ fabric in order to choose the perfect face fabric, membrane and backing for each individual line of apparel they make. Flylow chooses from nylons and polyester face fabrics, then pairs them with high-performing DWR and 20k/20k or 10k/10k membranes to maximize the performance of every product.

High Performance DWR (Durable Water Repellent) FinishAll of Flylow's exterior shells and midlayers are treated with a DWR coating, which stops precipitation from soaking into the fibers of a product's face fabric, aiding in quick fabric dry times and helping you stay dry and warm in storms. This is a well thought out, simple jacket. While it may not be the most waterproof offering, it breaths very well and is an excellent choice for anyone this side of the Pacific Northwest. The fit is great for my athletic 6'2" 190lbs 44" chest build (XL).

          Comments about Flylow Higgins Jacket:

I put about 100 days on a Bluebird Higgins from last season and I couldn't be happier with it. I wore it both inbounds and touring and it proved itself bomber durability wise and incredibly versatile. Paired with a midlayer it kept me warm and dry for the coldest and windiest winter conditions the Canadian Rockies have to offer but was equally at home over a single base layer for spring park days and corn hunting missions. In terms of features everything is so well thought out I honestly can't think of anything I would tweak: the pockets are perfectly numbers, sized and positioned, with the inner mesh pockets being especially useful; the vents are big and provide immediate relief; the hood is a great fit and very comfortable to ski with over a helmet on the really cold, windy days; the brushed inner lining is very comfortable on skin; the low bulk cuffs are a nice touch.

The stretch in the fabric makes it a really comfortable shell but also means it can take a battering without showing a mark. The only sign of wear and tear I have so far is a tiny tear from snagging it on a sharp tree branch and then falling with all my weight - the sort of mishap that has previously torn other jackets to shreds.

Size wise I am short but wide (5'6, 185 lbs) and found the medium just right.

In summary Flylow have absolutely nailed it with the Higgins and i'll have no hesitation in replacing mine with another, although it looks like it'll be years before I even have think about that.
