Comments about Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib Pants:

A few season ago I got a pair of these bibs as part of a GORE-TEX testing program. Since then, I've worn them primarily for skiing, both backcountry and resort.
Overall, I've been very happy with the bibs. They're very waterproof (kept me dry even on days that turned to rain) and the high-cut bib keeps snow and water out. Full lenth sealed zippers allow for easy venting without leaking. Last winter while working at the mountain, there were a couple pretty nasty rain days; I wore these instead of my work-issued pants and stayed dry.
These are definitely a lighter-weight shell, great for touring in, but have zero insulation and don't hold much heat in. That's been a plus the rest of the year, when I've occasionally used them for rainy day hikes and even a few rafting trips.
The downside to the lightweight material is that it does rip relatively easily. I have a few nicks in the knees (probably from telemarking), although the reinforced bottom cuffs have held up well.
The other downside is the pockets - the only two small pockets are high on the bib portion of the pants and are hard to get at if you're wearing a jacket and a pack. Not much use for anything bigger than keys or a small snack.

Comments about Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib Pants:

These are really great bibs. I had some concerns that these would be too bulky based on the pictures of the model wearing them, but the model just has the wrong size on. I got a large and they fit me very well (I'm 6'2 and 195 lbs with big thighs). They still leave me with enough room to move around without looking super bulky, which is what I wanted. Boot cuffs keep snow out of my ski boots. The material is also great - the moment you try them on you know they will stand up to anything you throw at them. I've already skied 4 days with them in Colorado and I couldn't be happier. Very comfortable, good looking, durable, and dry. Only downside is the two small zippers which can only hold a small granola bar or wallet, but if you use pockets on your jacket you're all set. Everyone knows this brand Is expensive, but the quality makes it so worth it, especially if you can get these on sale like I was able to. Good luck!

Outstanding for skiing and all things in the mountains in the winter. Light weight and efficiency take precedence over pockets.

Comments about Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib Pants:

I got my Beta AR jacket last winter and put some serious miles on it. After seeing how well it held up and kept the elements out I knew I would get some bibs at some point. Just like all other Arc'Teryx stuff these bibs are awesome. Great materials, good cut for proper leg movement even when taking big step ups on an ascent. I got a chance to test them a couple of weekends ago hiking and they were great. Wore them all day up and down a peak with no issues. I'm 6'2" 165 lbs and I went with the Large to make sure I had enough leg length and room in the crotch. The medium would not have worked. They are pricey but they are worth it. The only thing I suggest is to make the pockets bigger. You can fit a granola bar in there... maybe.
