    Bought for skiing / bicycling. Have worn several times for each. Haven't taken any serious falls while wearing it, but the d3o pads are reasonably soft and flexible, and you don't really notice they are there. The thumb holes in the sleeves keep the pads in the right place, and the pads are easily removable for washing.
