Comments about 686 Gamma 2.5-Ply Jacket:

Black Texture. This is a light weight, durable tech shell. A great jacket for wind, snow or rain. For sizing, I'm a skier so I don't need items that are at least 2x my size, so I ordered the medium knowing 686 is usually a size larger; not in this case, a medium was very tight around the waist and an effort to zip, I'm 5'11 170 lbs., exchanged it for a Lrg and fits much better. Keep this in mind when ordering. When putting it on; it feels much like a rubber rain jacket with it's double sealed inner stitching and stiff but breathable poly on the inside. Vents are all in the crucial locations, with plenty of pockets, including ipod / phone and pass pocket. The pattern and poly texture on the outside gives it a crisp clean and very durable feel. As for style; this is a very conservative looking jacket that doesn't scream. The pin striping through me off at first since it looks greenish greyish up close and just some kind of grey from a distance, keep this in mind also when ordering; at least with the black texture. It would be hard to find a lighter, more durable and all season comfortable shell for the money.

Comments about 686 Gamma 2.5-Ply Jacket:

I got the grey plexus gamma. I wear the jacket for snowboarding and 'all around in the snow use'. Its a great, stylish jacket. The asymetrical zipper/collar is a little hard to get used to, but once you do it works good. Its a pretty minimalist (2.5 layer, no lining) jacket so if you dont like to layer or like a bunch of pockets you may want look at something else. I like the minimalist feel, weight. The amount of pockets and configuration work well: Finally handwarmer pockets in a tech jacket! I usally wear a XL jacket for a baggy fit but after trying a Lge at the Ski Shop the Lge fit like a XL so I went with the Lge from EVO. Altho I dont do a lot of backcountry anymore this jacket would work well because it compresses good, breathes well.
