    I bought this helmet for my four-year-old son as it was required for a school event. Our family are all avid transportation cyclists and we don't generally wear helmets unless participating in races, mountain biking or other riskier types of riding. The Bern helmets will protect your head as well as any helmet and, unlike most cycle helmets, also offer some protection to the back and sides of the head, not just the top. Americans put way too much faith into helmets as the be-all-end-all of safety for cycling, but this helmet is one of the better ones on the market. Just remember that safe riding is how you really protect yourself and family.
