I use it for regular mountain biking year-round in temps of 50-90F. Sizing is a bit off. My 7 3/8" head fits the Large size perfectly. Feels great though. Vents are fine for biking, especially having the front two intakes. In colder temps, I wear a skull cap or helmet liner before putting it on. The only caveat is that eyeglasses with long straight temple tips will bump against the lower inside rear of the helmet. So just bend temple tips to wrap around behind your ears, then putting on glasses becomes a slower task.

I returned a Giro Reverb helmet to get this one after trying it on in the store. The fit was excellent in that it "hugs" your head and doesn't wobble around. The fit, in my opinion, is the most crucial element for safety of these helmets. Regardless of zip-mold etc. if the helmet is a poor fit it will not protect your cranium as well.

Matte black is a really nice look. I don't know about the shiny ones. No problems after using this helmet regularly for 2 months+ now. As for the liners, I believe that is a scam and don't waste your money on a $40 winter liner. Grab a comfort liner from their site ($10) if you want to ditch the bill.

I like the fit and look of the helmet. It's a little tight and I could probably not wear it comfortably if my hair was longer. I would recommend ordering one size bigger than you would normally need. I like the fact that you can change the liner, but winter liners are not easily available right now.

My biggest problem with this helmet is that the shell didn't hold its shape. It was round and smooth when I got it and about a month later, about 30% of the shell's surface looked like it had cellulite. I didn't drop or hit the helmet, the shell seems to have slowly changed on its own. I emailed Bern about this problem, but they never bothered answering.
