Comments about The North Face Furallure Plaid Jacket - Women's:

I found this product on another site for about $100 less than retail price. I filled out an evogear.com form and they beat that price by 5%, which is what made me order from here. I ordered the X-small and will admit that I was worried that it would be too short or too snug. The length could stand to be extended a little, but it IS an X-small. The sleeves were perfect and I have long arms. The hood was the biggest surprising thing about this jacket. Previously having owned a cheap L.E.I. jacket that was polyester filled and not warm at ALL, it was SO nice to have a down-filled hood that was heavy enough to stay on even when it was windy. I get cold pretty easily so this was definitely to my liking. The hood also has a drawcord to cinch it down tight, and zips off for those days where you just need body warmth. I had initially been looking for a jacket with a drawcord hem at the bottom, but this jacket has a ribbed bottom that fits just as well to keep out the wind. The fleece lined, zippered, pockets are also awesome. I like being able to secure any small items I put there or keep my hands warm if I don't have gloves. They are so warm that my hands start to sweat a little if kept in the pockets for a long time! I wouldn't consider that a con, though, because it's better to me to have slightly sweaty hands than ones that are numb! There is a zippered internal media pocket in which I usually keep my phone. It's pretty convenient because it keeps the regular pockets open for my hands or whatever else. The jacket zips and also has velcro to help keep out the wind. It's nice not to feel the wind through the zipper! I've always thought button closures were better just because they weren't so noisy, but I've realized that the velcro is much more functional when wearing gloves or having cold hands. It's easier to smoosh together velcro than to try to button or unbutton. The only cons I want to mention are the fact that you have to be a little more careful with snow and rain being that the jacket is down. It isn't meant to withstand a monsoon, so keep that in mind. The other thing is that the sleeves and back of the jacket are not directly hemmed. It is like there are two layers of material until you get to the elbow and mid-back areas. This may have something to do with the distribution of the down, but I haven't come up with any other explanation. It looked really odd at first but I hardly notice it now. I don't feel like it has affected the jacket's ability to keep me warm. Overall, this jacket is great. It is really warm, and the pattern is super cute. I don't do any outdoor winter sports, but I do have to walk around a big college campus and the wind and cold can become unbearable. I'm glad I made the purchase!
