I planned to use this pack instead of my CamelPak when on vacation at Breckenridge this winter. The pack seems to have a fairly decent amount of internal storage space for all those extras you'd like to have on the mountain for the day. Strap positioning seems comfortable and won't be an issue wearing it while snowboarding. The materials seem sturdy and what you would expect at this price point and intended use. Very thick and comfortable gel padding on the back of the pack will keep those hard items inside from poking you.

The only reason I did not give it a higher rating nor a "Yes, I would recommend this to a friend" is the product description on Evo states it is hydration capable. I cannot find a compartment or access point that would hold a hydration bladder like a CamelPak. This is VERY disappointing as I wanted the hydration capability of my CamelPak with larger storage. I have located two slots that appear to accomodate a hydration hose (top of pack and lower side of pack)exiting the pack but no hook/strap for supporting the bladder nor a separate compartment inside for the bladder to keep other gear dry if the bladder gathers condensation.

Another disappointment, the product description states it has multiple headphones slits. The only slits I've located are the above mentioned ones and neither slit accesses a separate media pocket for MP3 player. They open to the large interior of the pack. One of the side pockets is lined but again no access points for earbuds from the pocket other than through the pocket's zipper. The location of the side pocket at the bottom of the pack is also not condusive to a media pocket and it is too small to be a google pocket.

Finally, one item shown in the photos but not listed in the product description is a horizontal board carrier built into the back of the pack. It is an interesting feature but should be identified in the product description. I thought when looking the pictures that this was where the hydration conmpatible compartment was located.

If anyone can point out where I am missing how to set-up a hydration bladder (i.e. CamelPak or similar) with this pack then I would happily revise my review.

I think I will keep this pack for day-trips where I need comfortable storage but begin searching for a new pack that is really hydration capable and provides the larger storage I need.

Not What I Was Looking For

      Comments about Drop Descent Pack:

I got this for all-around use, not alpine specific. When I got it I found that the design is such that you have to disconnect the two board carrier buckles each time you want to zip or unzip the pack, not convenient enough for me. It is touted as having a bunch of features, but there is no info on which features are which or how to use them (e.g. "tool carrier", huh?). I emailed Drop asking for info about them and never got a reply, so can't really comment on them other than to say that I couldn't figure them out. On the plus side, the pack seems well constructed, relatively light, and the board carrier seems grippy and secure. In the end, just wasn't what I was looking for.

      Service and delivery comments:

Fed Ex dropped the ball on this and although I was paying for 2 day, I would not get it before 6 days (it was going from Kent to Seattle, a 25 minute drive), and ended up picking it up myself at their distribution center. No refund, just snippy "customer service" rep attitude. Use UPS instead.

          Comments about Drop Descent Pack:

I needed a backpack for my snowboarding trip out west that I could carry on me for an entire 8 hours of snowboarding that held my camera, food and water. This backpack did just that and it felt like it wasn't even there! Each day I carried 2 gopro's, 2 bottles of water and lunch for 2. Would definitely recommend this to others who need a backpack for snowboarding/skiing, the 3 sets of clips keeps it tight and secure to your back so it doesnt shift around while you ride.

Been riding with this bag for about a month now, overall impressed with the bag for the price point. Will fit all the gear you need for a easy or challenging day in the mountains and still is comfortable on the ride down. The only minor cons ive found, the straps could be higher quality, and the overall waterproofing isnt made for those rainy PNW days, but what really is

              Comments about Drop Descent Pack:

For under 30$ this pack delivers way more bang for its buck. Has a couple slots to feed a water bladder hose through. Straps for your chest and waist to save your back. Tons of small pockets around waist and shoulders for easy access on the mountain. I use this thing for both school and slaying the hill. There's also a decent sized pouch on the bottom that keeps your food separate and cold.

This is a decent day trip bag. Held my shovel and gear and was comfortable. Wish the hydration pocket was bigger, won't hold anything bigger than a liter. It was defiantly worth the [$] Evo was selling it for.

This is a good backpack for a day hike or maybe a backcountry bag. The only problem I have with it, is the amoung of pockets. It has one main pocket with a small mesh pocket inside of that for valuables. Then on the front of the back it has a meduim sized water proof pouch. I found the waterproof pouch to be good for wet board shorts or cold drinks.
