Dakine is a sweet company, and their warranty is great, but you'll never have to use it. The backpacks they make are near indestructable.

I use mine primarily for school - it can fit all of my books and binders no sweat, with room for my lunch to boot. It sits comfortably on my back and shoulders even when filled with textbooks.

That said, anyone can make a backpack for carrying textbooks. Where this truly shines through is in what you can fit in it: I know people (with admittedly small feet) who can fit all of the gear they wear while skiing in the pack. Although MY boots don't fit inside, people without monster feet can get their boots, socks, gloves, snow pants, jacket, goggles, fleece, under armour, long johns, spare underwear, and a pair of swim trunks for after skiing, and just buckle their helmet to the outside of the pack. All those items inside the pack, and there's still room for a laptop, travel documents, phones, ipods, water bottles, etc. I just throw my boots over my shoulder and I'm good to go.

The only downside I've been able to find is that there are almost too many pockets for me to know what to do with, but I've never found that to be too distressing.

I really love this backpack. I live in Washington DC and know DaKine from growing up in the Northwest. I travel a lot to California and wanted a good personal item to use in addition to my Swiss Army roller bag. This bag is perfect! The price is much less than Swiss Army, and the sleek design and roominess work well for the professional atmosphere of DC. I also like it because I swim in the mornings and needed a bag to bring all my stuff from workout to work on the metro. I highly recommend it!! I can fit so much stuff in here, it is ridiculous!
