Sure these binders are a bit on the heavy side, but it's totally worth hauling up the extra weight to feel extra solid on the way down. I just consider it 'a better workout' when I take these out for day trips/tours. The whole point of skinning up the mountain is coming down, and these are the best AT bindings I've tried, the Freerides and Naxos don't compare at all.

The Dukes have made their name in the world of AT bindings with their reputation as a burly touring binding that isn't afraid to take some big drops. The trade off with their increased burliness is weight. Furthermore, they need to be removed to change from touring to ski mode and vice versa. In addition, they have the known issues of pre-releasing with touring soles, and with the durability of their AFD. I haven't run into any trouble with the AFD yet, but the pre-releasing is a bit of a pain, especially since it offsets the ability to take bigger hits. I haven't had this problem with my alpine boots while using these bindings.

Bottom line: If you're looking for a burly AT binding, this is it. If you're looking for a light weight AT binding for extended tours, look elsewhere.

The small will fit up to a 330 boot sole. I can't believe they still have some in stock. Don't get them mounted freehand make sure the shop has the jig (mounting plate).

I mounted these up on the Pontoons with big hopes for switching between lift access backcountry and touring. A year later I've only used it for lift access alpine skiing. I've never had a surprise release, so I've been stoked. I can't speak to it's use as a touring binding... not yet anyway.

Comments about Marker Duke Ski Bindings (Fits most boots up to size 28.5 mondo) 2009:

Great bindings, I just got 'em 2 weeks ago but have already been out on 2 BC tours. Super solid on the downhill, way better than my Freerides from last season. You do feel the weight on the uphills but its worth it for that downhill security, no more easing up in tricky sections of the line. I've mounted them on a pair of Volkl Mantras, new but last seasons's. A heavier ski for the uphill but what an unreal combo for downhill.

Comments about Marker Duke Ski Bindings (Fits most boots up to size 28.5 mondo) 2009:

Definitely not the weak link in my touring setup. Yes, it is heavy, but I have not felt this solid of a connection to my ski in a very long time. I have done several 2-3 mile tours on them so far and one 5 miler...I haven't noticed the weight on the shorter trips. I did notice it for the longer one. It's definitely worth the weight for no compromise skiing. In bounds and sidecountry they work like a champ. I pretty much don't notice them other than feeling a connected ride, which is about the best you can ask for from a binding. When I hook up the money for a second lighter weight/longer tour setup I will probably get the Marker F12 Tour, but for day to day use or those sketchier lines I'm eyeballing this season these will be my go-to bindings. Thanks Marker and Evo.

Performs like an alpine binding on a riser plater. Best touring binding by far in this regard.
Sucks that you have to click out to release the heel and lock it back down.
Sucks that there is only one riser bar. Those are minor grievances though. If a high performance touring binding that skis like an alpine binding is what you want then you buy this binding. Plain and simple.

Good for backcountry as well as resort. I guess these are heavier than Freerides, don't notice much of a difference. solid construction, feels like normal alpine binding. Can adjust climbing positions when heel is free with your ski pole, very easy. Have these mounted on some Black Diamond Kilowatts, very responsive setup with bindings.
