Nordica Hell&Back Hike Exp Ski Boots 2012: Nordica’s completely new sidecountry boots, Hell & Back, are built for downhill performance first but provide features that allow skiers the ability to pursue new adventures into the ever expanding resort sidecountry. The sidecountry movement is the natural evolution of all-mountain skiing, and the Nordica Hell&Back Hike Exp Ski Boots are at the forefront with a progressive forward flex with a 45 degree closure system for maximum heel retention, new Full Shock Eraser dampening, and a quick release for transitioning into hike mode. Nordica’s new Hell&Back sidecountry boots provide skiers the uphill features they aspire to use without sacrifice to the downhill performance they need.

Comments about Nordica Hell&Back Hike Exp Ski Boots 2012:

Much more forgiving than a race boot yet the H&B EXP has the stiffness and accuracy for hi speed skiing when you want it. The hike feature is awesome. THe nearest boot with this capability would be the Solomon Quest series and the QUest 12 feels like the equivalent boot. However, the H&B and all of the new Nordica three piece/buckle boots are better quality (Firearrow, H&B, etc). The Quest has two minor features that make it nicer for hiking, perhaps. First the upper cuff will flex backwards more easily and further than the H&B (you can point your toe), and second the rubber tread under the instep is nice.

However the H&B is a better fitting boot, more comfortable with fewer pressure points and better lining surfaces (no blisters). THe shock absorbing feature is fantastic if you're a cornice jumper. The buckles are killer. THe tongue is superior. I could ski and hike all day without tiring. WHen I cranked them down for extra control in tough spots I was amazed by the comfort, especially in the heel region.

Nordica has really , finally gotten 3-buckle boots down cold.
