Product Info

The Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots are the answer to those of you saying, “But I waaant more stiffness!” The First Chair Ski Boots deliver your stiff flex, but it’s a smooth and natural linear flex that overlap models simply can’t achieve. Enjoy the Rubbersole replaceable non-slip natural rubber sole for easy walking on pavement, ice, and slippery club floors. New for 2014 is the Widetrack Buckle system that gives you the Holy-$@#-I'm-in-the-air-better-tighten-my-boot-for-landing ease of control over tightness. The First Chair also features Full Tilt’s highest performance Quick-Fit Pro Liner with Intuition® foam that molds 100% to your feet for powerful control, warmth, and comfort like no other.

Product Details

Fit

99mm FTS Soul 3-Piece ShellThe same 99mm last width and geometry as the Original with a slightly roomier toe box & rubber sole.

Easy On/OffTongue fully opens like a convertible, never blocking your foot. Slide your foot in and out easily with comfort in all temperatures.

Flex

Flex Rating: 10 (1 Soft - 10 Stiff)Stiffest flex – Our most powerful and responsive energy transfer, while maintaining a smooth, natural ankle flex to eliminate shinbang! You can quickly change your flex by swapping out different # flex tongues.

Ribbed Tongue100% Ribbed tongue enables smoother, more natural linear flex from your shin to your toe. The tongue bends like a flexible straw, never bottoming out while providing smooth rebound. Spread the word and ring the city bell: NO MORE SHIN BANG!

Infinite PivotUnlike traditional boot designs, the rear cuff of Full Tilt boots never bottoms out. It pivots infinitely forward with your calf for less shell distortion, no shin pain and more control.

Adjustable FlexThe boot's flex is rated on a simple scale of 1-10 (10=stiffest). Change a boot's flex by simply switching the tongue (additional tongues sold separately).

Liner

Pro Intuition® LinerThe most power transfer and responsiveness of any Intuition liner®. All adult Full Tilt boots use authentic Intuition® closed cell foam that is body heat activated to mold 100% to your feet and shell during use, or can be heat molded by a shop in minutes.

Pro Laminate ConstructionA combination of EVA foam layers quickly conform and mold to your foot. 4mm Open Cell foam is warm and comfy, 2mm Soft Density cross linked foam in between, and 7mm High Density Closed Cell foam is firm and responsive, to boot… pun intended!

Power WrapAn additional layer of ergonomically shaped High Density Intuition® closed cell foam is wrapped around the outside of the upper liner to provide added energy transfer and horsepower to the shell.

J BarA J-shaped piece of foam is added to both sides of the ankle area to dramatically increase ankle hold, keeping your feet perfectly in place for precise control.

Shell Materials

Light Weight 3-Piece Shell ConstructionMinimalist 3-Piece design eliminates the need for thick, heavy overlapping plastic or bolts for increased quickness & sensitivity, and it is up to 2 lbs / 900 g lighter than some alpine boots.

Buckles

Widetrack BuckleThe new adjustment mechanism from Full Tilt, the widetrack buckle is engineered to increase precision and durability while maintaining that I'm-still-skiing-down-this-mountain-right-now single hand tweek of cables. New durable aluminum lever is minimalist and lightweight.

CablesCable closure works like a shoelace to eliminate dead spots for a smooth even pressure flex & fit.

Power Strap

Power StrapNylon power strap gives you what you need to get the job done.

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2014:

FullTilt is a great boot design. I skied on the original Flexon Comps and giving them up was a mistake so I am very happy to be back into a modified Flexon design.
To get a good fitting boot you really have to try on multiple models of boots, even if you stay to a single brand like FullTilt. Different shells with different liners and lasts will fit differently. I had to try several models to find the best fit and ended up with the First Chair. They are a 99 mm last, but have an expanded toe box and the Intuition Pro liners.
I wanted to make sure I had a snug fit, so I left about 1 finger of space between my foot and the shell with no liner. At the suggestion of the boot fitter I skied without cooking the liners, huge mistake, skied only a few runs and my feet were killing me. Don't do that, heat fit the liners first.
The pre-heat fit was really tight, couldn't even buckle the top buckles with the cable keeper on, so heat fitting I really wanted to push the liners a bit, so I wore two pair of light socks and toe caps. The most painful 15 minutes ever on my feet, but now my boots fit perfectly and the cable fits no problem. Comfortably firm with no tight spots.
So why are these boots so great? Super comfortable all day and warm. They are super light-weight, size mondo 28 and they are 4.8 lbs/pair (yes, you read that right per pair). Compare that to any boot on the market these things are just great for scrambling up those ½ hour boot packs. Light=easier hiking and less work on the legs. Great lateral stiffness with no forward/reverse binding or shell deformation. Great boot-to-ski feel. Easy to get into /out of. Replaceable boot sole traction pieces. If you don't like the flex, the tongues can be switched out to vary the stiffness.
I am a big guy, 6-2 220 so the 10 flex is not a problem, I may pick up some 8's just for grins. If you try this boot and like everything but think it's too stiff just switch out the tongue.
I like everything about these boots except I had to wait for Spring sales to pick them up for a good price. If your foot fits, then you will love these boots.

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2014:

I haven't skied them so I won't address that. Just a word of warning, I am a size 12 shoe and my dad is an 11.5 and we both found the 29.5 to be too small. I've found in the past that going down a half size in ski boots can give a more snug fit, especially after your heels get seated in the back, but that was not the case here. My buddy who normally skis a 28.5 ended up buying them off of me. They are otherwise comfy though and you can tell right away they're a warm all-day-no-issues boot (if they fit right). Buckle system is kinda goofy but nothing you wouldn't get used to after a few times

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2014:

Seems to be a great boot so far I have had no issues to speak of. They fit and feel great. Also many people have said or may think that Full Tilts are soft park boots, well let me tell you these are not they seem the right stiffness for where I want them for my skiing. Give them a try if you were considering them and if you weren't still give them a try.
