Rossignol Axial2 120 XXL Ski Bindings (120 mm Brakes) 2013: The Rossignol Axial2 120 XXL Ski Bindings are high performance bindings that come with 120 mm brakes that are perfect for uber-fat skis. The reinforced Dual Action toepiece has 180 degree multi-directional release with high vertical and lateral elastic travel to provide shock absorption, reducing inadvertent release. The lateral arms of the heelpiece are angled down for better power transmission to the edge of the ski. With 25 mm of elastic travel, the heelpiece provides the longest travel of any binding on the market and further prevents unwanted pre-release. The Axial2 120 XXL has a DIN range of 3.5-12 for serious freeskiers.

This is a well built binding. I am a 200 lb, expert skier that spends most of the time in the trees/sidecountry. I don't huck cliffs anymore but I ski pretty aggressively for an old fart.
I was also looking at the Rossi FKS/Look Pivot, which shares the same toe piece, is lighter, and has the legendary turntable heel (also costs more). I choose the Axial2 because I have several boots and the FKS/Pivot has very little room to adjust to accommodate varying sole length. The Axial2 provides that adjustment range.
This binding provides excellent power transmission and ski feel. It also gives a bit when pushed to the edge of releasing which helps to reduce unwanted releases. EVO gave me a great price. It is a perfect match with my S7 skis!

I had my Axial2 120 bindings fail on me pretty spectacularly during one of the best ski days of last winter. I was going quite fast, but I'm not heavy - 70kg or 155lbs - so well within what a 12 din binding should handle. I was running them set to 9.

I clipped a hidden rock and double ejected. When I found my ski I saw that the binding heel piece had been ripped from the ski, and the rail severely bent out of shape. As you can see from the photo.

When I contacted Rossignol about this they refused to offer any replacement or refund and blamed "accidental user damage". They strongly denied that there might have been any fault in the manufacture of my binding, saying:

"the binding performed as required and released the skier "

I found that quite surprising. Rather than accept there may have been a weakness in the piece of metal used in that binding, they have effectively stated that there is nothing wrong with the binding, and I simply shouldn't have crashed. I got the impression from Rossignol that they thought I was lying and had used a tool to deliberately break the binding. How's that for customer service?

Seriously, consider a different binding.

Comments about Rossignol Axial2 120 XXL Ski Bindings (120mm Brakes) 2013:

I'm not the right guy to give expert analysis on the finer technical points of bindings, but it is important to know that these bindings demand clean boots to latch. I'm not sure this is a bad thing, but you will notice it. The heel interface has excellent points for scraping and the binding offers a solid, confidence-inspiring connection once seated, but it will not seat if you have any accumulation of snow on the bottom of your boots.

amazing bindings! i have them set up on my 2011 K2 Obsethed's (169cm) great bindings apart from the fact they weigh a ton! on my obsethed's they weigh 18 lbs. if weight isnt an issue, buy these bindings! I'm a sponsored skier in Juneau, AK. I'm 16 years old and about 130 lbs. great bindings, apart from the weight issue. all-in-all buy em'!

Comments about Rossignol Axial2 120 XXL Ski Bindings (120mm Brakes) 2013:

Haven't bought new ski gear in years, so I was a bit surprised that nothing much has changed about bindings. The binding work as expected, well; but the brakes are super wide, 120mm (I went with Rossi/Looks recommendation) on my 108 width skis and they just plain suck. They catch on the snow, my pants, anything available. My old binding brakes folded up and out of the way and were a 1000 times better.

Comments about Rossignol Axial2 120 XXL Ski Bindings (120mm Brakes) 2013:

I picked up two pair of these bindings at different sizes on clearance from Evo.com. Had them mounted by Evo which had a great price and turn-around time, I should add.
I have mine set on Line Influence 115 and use them mostly at The Summit for instructing ski school but also when I free-ski after school is over. For the price, these bindings are more than adequate. I had one issue on the first day of use where when I took my skis off to go to the car (end of day) one of the brakes came off. I was able to simply screw it back on the next day but it was interesting.
I have not experienced any unexpected releases or related issues. Release is kind of tough compared to other bindings I have used.

SO far, this binding has been excellent. No problems at all and it looks like it will last. Great binding for the price. I have not had an incident where it should have released(wreck) but it has not pre-released which I have tested to the fullest of my ability by running the ski fast and over variable terrain.

Nice bindings for a good price. I would recommend for a little heavier person. Entry is easy but release is a very stiff. I'm 5'5" and weigh 123 pounds and find getting out of this binding difficult. It takes me stepping on the back with the opposite ski to get out....I can't get out by reaching down with my hands to release the binding. They may be easier to release for someone with a little more muscle!

Comments about Rossignol Axial2 120 XXL Ski Bindings (120mm Brakes) 2013:

Mounted on my powder skis - 2014 Rossignol Super 7s. Look good, work well with the wide ski, don't release when you don't want them to, release when they should. What more can you ask from a binding?

The bindings work great for a fatty ski (mine are on Icelantic Keepers, 119 underfoot), and I picked them up on sale for $140 which is a steal! I'm definitely happy with the purchase.

Haven't had any problems with accidental releases, skied them hard in fresh snow, heavy/wet crud, groomers, no issues. Not a huge fan of the vertical rear lever to release compared to my Atomics, but very functional binding overall.

Comments about Rossignol Axial2 120 XXL Ski Bindings (120mm Brakes) 2013:
