Comments about Look PX 12 XXL Ski Bindings (115mm Brakes) 2013:

I'm a 5'6", 52-year-old, 150lb, aggressive, 45-day/year steeps-only Squaw Valley season pass-holder who has been skiing for 30+ years, I ski ~180cm skis, at a DIN of 8.5. Back in the 1980's I had (similar looking) Look bindings and they always worked well but they were hard to manually release because it was hard to keep your ski pole in the release-divot of that tall heelpiece as you pushed down. So through the 90's & 00's I skied various models of Salomon and Marker bindings but they all had the problem of releasing when they shouldn't have ("pre-releasing"). A few years ago I found such a good price on Look PX12s that I thought I'd give them a try. Best bindings I've ever owned. They always release when they should and NEVER RELEASE WHEN THEY SHOULDN'T. And (unlike their 1980's versions) they're now easy to manually release with your pole. I don't plan on ever buying anything else-- except for its Rossignol sister/clone, the Axial-2. (Rossignol owns Look so the two bindings are basically identical.) Many of the hardcore skiers that I know who have tried the Look PX or Rossignol Axial-2 (including guys at ski shops that get to try lots of different gear) have become Look/Rossignol converts like me. Never heard a complaint.

In recent years I have heard that the newer generation of (stubby-toe) Marker's are also quite good. Is it a coincidence that these better- working Marker bindings adopted the Look-style tall heelpiece that Look has used since the 1970's? Doubt it.

Sick binding, good lighter construction! At the price you just can't beat them! Super secure hold but will let you go before any type of injury. Stomps landings with ease, I'm never worried about malfunctions. I wreck my buddy ST on a regular on the mountain with my setup, he cant keep up! Bottom line, the rossi's and the looks are great, comes down to the color scheme really...go get em yesterday!

the only reason for 4 stars is I wish it was made with a little more metal. But it is very sturdy and the price is fantastic.

Comments about Look PX 12 XXL Ski Bindings (115mm Brakes) 2013:

So much is made of release in different types of falls and such. The thing is, that nobody talks about keeping you in. When I am in the steeps, you want your ski to stay on. If the binding pre-releases in a chute, it is way worse than the 1% less torque or whatever your knee experiences in a backward rolling fall.

These things stay on when they are supposed to and come off when you wreck. I skied other brands at 10-12 DIN and still came out. I ski these at about 8 and they are perfect.

As always, Look bindings just work. Best binding for the money. Never releases when you don't want it to and clamps you tight to the ski.

This is a good binding. I have this same style on a number of skis and they never let me down. Getting out of them can be a challenge but that is the cost of having them not release easily for the wrong reason like some other bindings.

If the price were comparable, I'd also trust the higher-end Look bindings with the full pivot heel, but I just don't feel the need to pay a premium for those bindings when the PX works so darned well. In fact, I just bought a 3rd pair for my new skis last week. Most of the hardcore skiers that I know who have tried the Look PX or Rossignol Axial-2 (including guys at ski shops that get to try lots of different gear) have become Look/Rossignol converts like me.

However, in recent years I have heard that the newer generation of (stubby-toe) Marker's are also quite good. (Unless Marker starts selling those bindings for a lot less than the Look/Rossignol bindings, I'll probably never take the chance on the new generation of Marker bindings.) Is it a coincidence that the newer generation Marker bindings adopted the Look-style tall heelpiece that Look has used since the 1970's? Was the Look design just always superior?

I put these on some armada jj's in a 185 length. I'm 6'0" but only 130 lbs so I needed a binding with a wide din range unlike the fks or jesters or sth 16 so I went with these!!! They're pretty sweet all around bindings for a lighter guy with a din range of 3.5 to 12! I'm growing still so I needed a binding that'd hold up for 3 or 4 years with a din of 6 now and these bindings going to twelve they should fit the bill!!! I like the wide afd and the fks toe piece they give great energy transfer to the ski!,, the only down side is that they are made with a lot of plastic and the toe pieces din is about .5 or 1 higher then it says so if you plan on falling quite a bit lower the toe a little other then that a rockin durable good binding!!!
