The ABS Vario 25L Airbag Pack (Base Unit Included) is the ultimate weapon in backcountry safety, second only to your brain. The ABS base unit is an adaptable backpack system that includes the ABS TwinBag system. In the event of an avalanche, deploy the airbags via a pull cord on the shoulder, and 170 L worth of air is suspended around your upper body, greatly increasing your surface area so you stay higher up in the debris pile. The base unit allows you to zip different sized packs on to the base unit, so you can use your ABS unit on sidecountry assaults as well as longer hut trips. This Vario 25 liter pack comes with the 25L attachment, which can be switched out with other sizes (sold separately). The Vario 25L pack offers a dedicated avy tools pocket and ski, snowboard, ice ax and helmet carry systems uniquely designed not to interfere with the airbag system. FILLED BASE UNIT INCLUDED.

ABS TwinBag System – In the event of an avalanche, deployment of an airbag system helps the victim stay higher up in the debris, so they are more likely to come to rest on the surface than buried deep down. ABS's TwinBag system deploys two independent airbags on either side of the bag, providing 170 L for increased surface area and insurance against system failure.

Warning – Wearing an airbag backpack is no guarantee of survival in an avalanche. Backcountry travelers are highly advised to educate themselves in snow stability assessment, route finding, and companion rescue and carry all of the conventional avalanche gear in addition to the airbag.
Refill
Used Cartridges – Spent cartridges may only be refilled by ABS®; after deployment you should return the empty cartridge to an authorized dealer or ABS® where you will receive a credit toward the purchase of a full cartridge. Activation handles should be replaced at the same time.
