This jacket never leaves my pack in the fall, winter and spring. It is a little too heavy for summer so my Beta SL goes with me instead.

It has served me well for everything from backpacking to backcountry skiing. The outer fabric is extremely tough yet it still breaths well. The three pockets are the perfect amount without adding too much weight.

I am 5'11" and 180lbs and a large provides room for a softshell underneath in the winter without being to large without.

I wear this Arcteryx jacket for backcountry skiing here in Oregon's Cascades. As you know, it rains and snows a lot in the winter here. I've used this jacket on several occasions this winter and spring and it has kept me dry and comfortable. It is a Gore-Tex Proshell. The solid construction holds up to occasional brushes with trees and ice, I've had not wear problems yet. The pit zips can zip both directions making them easier to reach. The pockets are big, maybe too big, because stuff can jostle around. When I'm wearing a backpack, I usually keep only a camera in that outside pocket for easy access. I'm a Gore-Tex Mountain tech and received this jacket to test from that program. I've been happy with this jacket since receiving it, it is the best jacket that I've used for skiing in rainy condition.
