After reading all the other reviews I felt that I had to write one as well. I used this for 100+ days last year and loved it. It fits plush with in the helmet. The buttons take some getting used to but can be mastered; to the point where you can crank up the volume when surfing through the trees whilst squawking at your buddies. Connecting to a device is simple and consistent. The sound quality is good. Hoping Skull Candy starts producing better speakers for an add on product. The volume ladder is perfect in my opinion. From a faint whisper gradually climbs to "I'm ruining my hearing but I love this jam". The only 2 things it is missing in my opinion is a device search button (aka "siri button"). As well as better speakers. Don't get me wrong. The speakers are still sound very good. I wish they had a more balanced treble mids and bass. Treble tends to win the show. All in all. I think It is the best audio bluetooth helmet integration on the market.

Siri Works and Its Wonderful!!!!!!!

By

from Granite State

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

This product is one of the best if not the best helmet system out there. Buttons are no problem with mittens or gloves. The reason I felt compelled to write was I felt this product was getting negitive reviews for a feature that works no problem. Siri works no problem....sport scores, stock updates and airfare prices so you can follow that next storm!!!!!! Keep up the great work.

Excellent product

By

from Connecticut Alps

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

The sound is much better than the previous version; not that the previous was bad. But these speakers have a fuller sound, more bass while still being crisp and clear. No Siri, who cares! These are for music!!!

Stopped working after just a few days of use

By

from Shepherdstown, WV

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

While on the slopes yesterday, I was listening to tunes and received a call. I hit the large button to answer it and the device completely shut down. (This had worked fine in the past.) Thinking the internal battery had just lost its charge, I plugged it back in when I got back home. The LED was still red after a few hours, so I let it charge overnight. But, it still isn't working this morning. Pressing the large button by every conceivable method I can think of does nothing - the LED never comes on. Thinking the LED may have just died, I tried connecting my Galaxy SIII anyway. Nothing. So I guess it's going back for warranty repair, which takes a couple of weeks. Unfortunately I'm leaving for a long ski trip in a week and was really hoping to have tunes for that. Sigh. When it WAS working, the audio was better than I expected. The buttons are large and can be operated with light gloves on. Phone conversations were good on both ends. The only con I had - I wish the control unit could be better attached to the helmet than just the two tabs that the ear straps slide through.

Difficult Buttons and No Siri

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

The buttons are very difficult to operate with gloves on. It seems like nobody ever tested this in a snow riding situation. The buttons are large enough, but getting them to actually function is next to impossible. I really miss being able to activate Siri, primarily to find out what time it is while I'm skiing without having to take my phone out of my pocket. It's not all bad. The sound quality seems pretty good (but I had no complaints with the older version). Also, battery life seems pretty reasonable.

Really completes my Smith Variant Helmet

By

from Beaver Creek, CO 81620, USA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

Okay, so I like getting calls when I ski...the Bluetooth connection was easy, the sound quality is great and people hear me talking clearly. These are the best helmet headsets I've had. The music is easy to turn on and off as well as to advance tracks and changing sound volume is easy. I listen to more music because of the ease of use. Battery life is great - at least two or three days and the comfort and bulk are better than I expected. Only one issue: there is no way to place a call or activate Siri without pulling the phone out. Major annoyance on a cold day on the lift! I hope Smith/ Skull candy issues a software upgrade asapłį

Bought this and ended up using the connect version due to the buttons being very difficult to locate. Aways have to take gloves off to pause it or replay it. Very bad design in my opinion

Easy to use and functions as intended

By

from South Central, PA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

I like the low profile design, easy to use buttons, good battery life and adequate sound quality. No noticeable issues so far. Would prefer thicker module to speaker wires (always afraid I'm going to break a wire), but I'm very pleased with the overall function of the product. I have been told the sound quality is clear, with a little apparent wind noise while moving, which is to be expected. Great for hands free calling, great for streaming music or playing from an SD card. Very happy with the new design styling. Only con, the way the module attaches to the helmet worries me.

Great Product

By

from Seattle, WA, USA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

So I've had this since the beginning of the 2013-2014 season and FINALLY figured out that SIRI does work - despite several reviews that state it does not. You just need to double tap on the the main button and SIRI prompt comes up. Ive been able to make calls, hear and respond back to text messages. I even asked for a NFL score the weekend the Seahawks beat the Niners! and it worked like a charm. Very cool product - music sounds great. Would recommend this to anyone intersted in having bluetooth capability in their helmet.

Great Solution for helmet tunes from my iphone.

By

from Pennsylvania, USA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

This product is a great way to add tunes to your helmet without the hassle of removing your player to turn it down or off. If I get on a chair with someone, a tap of the ear piece pauses the music. Another tap starts it again. The directions are very limited so I have no idea how to skip tracks but other than that it performs great.

Great - No Wires!

By

from Sun Valley, ID, USA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

Opening day Baldy - The best!………No wires to mess with. Easy access to controls (with gloves off-I've got big hands). Audio alerts tell you when you are on/off, volume up/down. Great Sound! I wore a Single Shot for a Smith Variant for the last 5 years. My ear pads would not accept the Skullcandy Bluetooth speakers, so I had to order pads from Smith. Make sure they send you pads that place the speakers directly over the ear for the best sound and volume. Smith makes different sizes. Check it out. iPhone works fine………easy to accept calls. Good Product - It Could Use Better Speakers

By

from Bellingham, WA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

Overall this product works very well. Good battery life - I can go most the day with the thing cranking along. The functionality of the buttons is pretty standard for bluetooth devices. The buttons are easy to press with your gloves on. My biggest wish is that the headset speakers were of a higher quality - definitely lacking in bass, big time. Otherwise though, the sound is crisp. I ended jimmy-rigging my own yurbud earbuds into the bluetooth controls. Now I've got plenty-o-bass.

Great design poor speakers

By

from Troy, NY, USA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

The overall design is great . simple and easy to use, plus no cables! however audio quality was poor. Sound was scratchy at high volumes. I purchased this to replace my drop in model. The quality of the drop in speakers was much better. So I am just using my old speakers with the new bluetooth module. I just wish the speakers it came with just as good.

Highly recommend (in spite of other mediocre reviews)

By

from Minneapolis, MN, USA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

Either the product has been upgraded, or people don't know how to use bluetooth headphones (phone bluetooth volume in addition to the volume controls on the device). Sound quality is great for a helmet product, and very good for over/on-ear headphones. Buttons are easy if you can find your left ear and have more than an 8-second memory. The MSRP is a bit steep, but it is available for less - shop around. However, good luck finding any other electronic/headphone product out there for under $200 that has a lifetime warranty. Kudos to Smith for standing behind their products. I was skeptical based on the other reviews, but so glad I took a chance. I'm not a fan of helmets, but this is great incentive to keep me wearing one.

Huge Fan

By

from San Francisco, CA, USA

Comments about Smith Skullcandy Bluetooth Audio Kit:

I've enjoyed the old version for a couple of years. In general, great sound quality, terrific battery life, good microphone, easy to install and use. My only two complaints were they didn't work with SIRI to read texts and make calls for true "hands free" experience and they were a little bulky, i.e. earpieces stuck out a lot and I didn't really like the look. After a season or two of use the face plate to one of the ear pieces fell off exposing the electronics. I sent it back to Smith for a repair and they sent me this brand new set which I have yet to try. Hugely impressed not only with the product but the warranty is second to none. Very few brands stand behind their products like Smith. Looking forward to trying this new model - certainly like the looks of it better!
