The I/O is the most stylish and most comfortable goggle you can put on your face. And they are not lacking in performance, they are tough, durable, and perform well in adverse conditions. They offer a variety of lenses for all conditions, and they battle the elements with superior anti-fogging, and the lenses are super quick and easy to swap out. The I/O's best feature is the wide peripheral vision so you are never caught off guard by blind spots. The thick foam is comfy and resilient. They are wonderfully compatible with all Smith helmets, and with all the stylish color-ways to choose from, you just can't go wrong with this goggle.

I've been wearing I/O for 2 full seasons. I live 2+ hrs from a decent resort in the Sierra Nevada mtns of California and caught all the powder days, including all the dumping stormy days.

The Ignitor Mirror lens were acceptable on sunny days, although, when not in shade, my eyes really wanted a darker/lower VLT lens (like the sol-X). I used the Sensor Mirrors during the dumping storm days and they were a complete failure, fogging horribly every time. After the first season, I warrantied them and the second set of SM did the same thing. Halfway through the second season, I warrantied them again and Smith suggested I try the Red SM...they fogged as well.

As dissapointed as I am with Smith, I might try the new I/OX, since they put more anti fog coating on the lenses. However, I'm leaning toward getting 2 sets of cheaper brand goggles (because changing lenses out, mid sesh, is a hassle). No matter how good the optics are on any brand, if they fog, they're useless.

Smith IO goggles

By Kinsey Smith

Comments about Smith I/O Goggles:

The Smith IO is a very nice goggle for people that cant afford to have two pairs of gogs... the one I used had a sensor mirror and a ignitor mirror. Its also nice for hiking because you only have to carry a extra lens. With this combo of lens you are set in Washington... sensor mirror for 80% of the cloudy days and the ignitor for the 20% of sun we get. I'm very excited to try the IOx... its just a bigger volume goggle for dudes that run hot(like me)

This goggles are AWESOME! I got them after I was super jealous of my friends. They are so easy to change the lenses out on so you can have whatever lens you need for the conditions that day. They are also a great size for girls... not too small, not too big, and give an awesome range of view. DEFINITELY a must have!

I wore these goggles all last ski season and could not be happier. Smith included two lenses, and they covered all the conditions I encountered. Paired with my Smith helmet, I had zero issues with fogging. Very comfortable with great visibility. The strap is very secure as well. The included pouch/cloth holds the goggle and the extra lens which makes changing on the mountain simple. Smith did their homework on this product and got it right.

Fits perfectly with a Smith Maze helmet. The venting is made s.th. the goggle gets fresh air from the helmet frontal inlet. I was not riding at a very foggy day so far but I guess it really helps. In my opinion, even the best goggle does not work if you block the air outlet with a beanie.

Phtochromatic lens is too dark for some ski areas and users. They need to offer a Vlt 50%-90% lens for users that have to put up with a lot of grey or snowing days.

Well made and an excellent product. But, you have to be extremely careful with the lenses in order not to scratch them.

Great fit, absolutely no wind issues and good peripheral vision.

Lens changing is better than other goggles I have had, but still could be easier.

Fits well with my POC Receptor helmet.

First of all, these are a great fit with a Giro Seam helmet.

Got the Ignitor/Blue Sensor lens combo. After using these for the last couple of weeks in anything from pea soup fog to flat midwinter shadow, to December sunshine, I think this combo is great for skiing in NE from December through February. These tints really bring out the contours in flat light, and the darker tint (Ignitor) doesn't sear my retinas when the sun does come out and I'm out of the shadow of the mountain. Might want a darker lens for March and April, but we'll see in a couple of months.
