The DaKine Commander Gloves are built to stand up to the coldest conditions. Featuring a GORE-TEX® insert, 225 g of Primaloft® insulation and a Dakine Warmth Index of 5/5, these gloves are packed with all the technology needed to avoid numb fingers. Plus, DaKine included it all in a glove that doesn't look or feel like an oven mitt. The Commander utilizes Xtrafit™ technology to secure the different layers of the glove together so you maintain all of the dexterity you would find in a much thinner glove.
GORE-TEXT® Insert with Xtrafit Technology This insert offers a full bond between the waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX® insert and the inner lining material, while a special grip tape provides a "non-slip" effect between this bonded package and the outer shell when pressure is applied. The end result is a close-fitting, durably waterproof and breathable glove with a single layer feel.
225 g of Primaloft® Insulation This insulation offers superior performance for high quality cold-weather gloves. Primaloft® is lightweight, breathable and is proven to repel water better than any other synthetic or natural insulation, so you remain dry, warm and comfortable even under the most extreme conditions.
360 g Wool The natural properties of wool provide for superior warmth and moisture management. Non-abrasive, this wool has an extremely soft hand.
400 g Heavy Weight Pile Provides maximum insulation and comfort
Durable Drum Dyed Leather A unique tanning process infuses the leather with a waterproofing agent and compound dye yielding a premium leather for the ultimate in comfort and durability.
Pre-Curved Finger Construction Performance articulation is achieved by shaping the palm pattern to fit the hand in the relaxed position. The forchettes are also patterned following the natural articulation of the fingers. Performance articulation results in an optimal fit with superior blood flow to the fingers, leading to warmer hands.
Adjustable hook and loop cuff closure

Comments about DaKine Commander Gloves:
I got these gloves because at 5/5 on the Dakine warmth index, I thought they would be very warm. I have mild circulation problems, so for me hiking at around 35 degF for about 10 minutes and my fingers started to go numb. I have never been able to find a pair of gloves that kept me sufficiently warm, so your mileage will most likely vary. This probably means that someone with normal circulation would find them not warm enough at 0-15 degF or so?
The shape of the thumb is such that it is semi-locked in front of your palm and you can't comfortably flex out your hand, but I think I could get used to that.
They are more tactile than other gloves of a similar thickness.
They are *very* soft and comfortable, so I am keeping them to loan out to people and wear in warmer weather.
