We call 'em "accessories" but we all know an otherwise epic day in the mountains can quickly go south without them. After all, it's not exactly fun when you take a helmet-less spill, can no longer feel your hands, or go temporarily blind from bright glacial glare... It's safe to say these "accessories" are actually major keys to a good time in the mountains.

So what's new? Better fitting helmets with an increasing adoption of MIPS technology are safer and more comfortable than ever. Popular goggle styles are now being offered in ranged sizing with new lenses to better meet different face sizes and variable weather. Mittens and gloves have more dexterity as well as more efficient, less bulky insulation. And as last season proved, ninja-style hood/balaclava hybrids are taking the industry by storm. We've rounded up the latest and greatest snow accessories and trends right here, so you can dial in the details and take full advantage of the coming season.

In the past, if a particular style of goggles didn't fit, you were simply out of luck. Luckily, that dilemna is going the way of the dinosaur. Leading manufacturers like Smith, Oakley, and Dragon are starting to roll out multiple size options for their most popular models. So what does that mean for you? If a previously coveted style was too big (or too small) for your face, there's a good chance one of these new options will fit the bill. A few examples are Oakley's Flight Deck vs. Flight Deck XM, Dragon's NFX vs. NFXs, and of course, Smith Optics' I/OX vs. I/O vs I/Os.

Other highlights include fantastic new lenses that filter or adapt to light (see our blog on the subject) along with a totally new goggle concept from Electric called the Electrolite.
