Review :: Volkswagen waves the upgrade wand at the 2006 New Beetle, adding sharper bodylines, new bumpers, a larger headlight treatment, and new taillights. Inside, there's a new center console and chrome trim on the instrument cluster and air vents. Traction control with Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) is standard.
The New Beetle TDI is equipped with a standard 1.9-liter, I4, 100-horsepower, turbo, diesel engine that achieves 37-mpg in the city and 44-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims, and a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 2007 New Beetle is a carryover from 2006.
