Niman Ranch lamb is raised on environmentally sustainable, family-owned ranches in California and Utah. The animals are pasture fed for most of their lives, then finished on 100% vegetarian, high-quality natural grains and dried forage in a low-stress feed yard with ample room. Our lambs are never given antibiotics or growth hormones.

Our ranchers follow sustainable grazing practices which includes pasture rotation that protects native plant species while providing naturally fertilized and nutrient-rich fields for growing feed.

Our lambs are brought to market at the perfect maturity—130-135 pounds through most of the year and a little lighter in early spring—to achieve optimal flavor. Sweet, mild, naturally tender and never gamy, we are sure you will agree that Niman Ranch lamb is simply the finest tasting lamb available.

About Niman Ranch

The Niman Ranch Story

Niman Ranch started in the early 1970s, when Bill Niman began raising pigs, chickens, goats, and cattle on eleven acres in a small coastal town, just north of San Francisco. He raised his animals using traditional, humane husbandry methods and wholesome natural feeds. Before long, Bill began selling his beef to local grocery stores while restaurants were asking to put the flavorful beef on their menus.

Today, Bill still raises cattle on his California ranch and Paul cares for his hogs in Iowa, but the Niman Ranch family has grown to include over 500 independent American family farmers. Whether they raise hogs, beef cattle, or sheep, they all share a dedication to producing great flavor using only natural methods.
