manufacture: Made by Bonjour in Switzerland of 100% beech wood microfiber. To make these towels, the wood is broken down into a cellulose slurry (similar to that in paper production), from which a very fine microfiber is produced. (A microfiber is a single extruded strand rather than a spun, twisted yarn.)

materials: 100% natural beech wood cellulose. The wood is farmed in Scandinavia and is harvested under strict, controlled forestry conditions. Dyes used are non toxic and colorfast.

dimensions: Washcloth: 12" x 12": $14.00 Hand Towel: 15.5" x 27.5": $21.00 Bath Towel: 27.5" x 55": $58.00 Bath Sheet: 39" x 59": $74.00 Set of Four Towels: $157.00 (save $10)

about: These towels are a great alternative to those made of conventionally grown cotton, a crop whose production takes an enormous toll on the air, water, and soil, not to mention the health of people living and working in cotton country. (For example, nearly 2/3 of all pesticides used worldwide are applied to cotton crops.)

Made with nothing but wood fiber, Millennium towels feel like cashmere, and they have a natural luster that does not wash out. They are highly absorbent and wick moisture away from the skin. Their light weight aids in quick drying in air and in the dryer; as such, they require less energy than thicker terry towels.

About Branch

What if we could shop in a store that had already done the challenging thinking for us? A place where we could buy products that are wholly appealing - sexy, even - but that are also manufactured and brought to market in such a way that we didn't have to feel guilty about buying - or, eventually, disposing of - them?
