    Comments about Ortovox S1+ Avalanche Beacon:

    Used primarily as a safety utility during snow skiing, back-packing & tracking expeditions. Personally I find it easy to use and is an effective safety/security tool. However, the price will always exclude the vast majority of those who should have this device. I happen to believe *all* people deserve to have this tool and not just those who can afford it. Shame on the manufacturer for using a Get-Rich-Quick approach to what should be a required piece of gear, and not only for the wealthy. Although I recommend this only because of it's safety/security potential, I think it's absolutely shameful to price an item such that you hold people financially hostage using their desire to stay ALIVE.
