Comments about BCA Tracker2 Avalanche Beacon:

I have tested this unit with partner, and at a local test patch the local Avy guys set up at a municipal park. Simple, intuitive, and WORKS.

Battery life seems to last forever.

Harness/holster seems a bit over-engineered and bellzy-whistly... designs should seek to strip away all non-essentials. It works, just over-wrought IMHO.

Thankfully have not had to use the beacon for its intended use. That is my plan and I am sticking to it- avoidance, discretion, and prudence are my friends.

Comments about BCA Tracker2 Avalanche Beacon:

I have been using an original Tracker for 7 years and it still is sending an accurate signal. At least from what my friends Piep is telling me. ( The Pieps has a way of determing if a becon is transmitting the right frequency) Not into the techy stuff. That is why I bought another Dummy proof Tracker. It is said you should replace your becon every 4 years? Why take the chance. I have not used it in the mountains. Just messing around the yard. It appears to eliminate the spike with the new "Third Antena". Plan on going in to the mouuntains and practice more. No matter what becon you use. Learn it, Use it and Practice with it. Take a Level 1 class is a great way to understand how these thing work.

Baccountry Access's Tracker 2 was worth the wait. The addition of the third antenna gives a faster processing time. Very user friendly. No long learning curve for operation. Take an avy class and pack your shovel and probe.
