The Tracker is still the standard for an easy to use backcountry beacon. This beacon works great for someone who rides a little bit of slackcountry, or goes occasionally into the backcountry but doesn't spend as much as time as they should practicing their avvy skills. For straight out of the box ease of use this would be the beacon of choice.

Of course I highly recommend that everyone brush up on their search skills before even thinking about going into avalanche terrain, the reality is that doesn't always happen. This beacon keeps it simple and straightforward. That being said, without practice your search time will definitely suffer as will your partners survival chances, so even with the tracker practice up!!! Even just one or two practice sessions can seriously sharpen searching skills and cut down on time, and that's true of all beacon models.

I gave 4 stars as opposed to 5 due to the Tracker's multiple burial tracking abilities. It has a functional system and can do advanced searches moderately well with enough practice. However, there are more advanced beacons out there that will perform better in these situations.

Even for a novice backcountry skier like myself the BCA Tracker DTS is super easy to use. I've never had to actually find someone and I pray I never have to but just in practicing with friends it has performed every time.

this is a really easy beacon to use. it is very simple to use in a single burial scenario. i have practiced with it but luckily havent had to use it.

This beacon is so easy to use - I use it quite often for training and have yet to use it in a real search - hopefully will keep it that way.

This beacon is very high quality for the price. Its easy to use and shows the battery life remaining everytime you turn it on. I haven't had to use to dig anyone out yet (thankfully) but I have complete confidence in it if that times comes.

I have used A few Ortovox's and other much more expensive beacons and this one is my favorite for it's ease of use. I was tempted to buy one that was Analog and digital, which is nice since you can determine the direction to go much quicker, but found that once in digital range the Tracker was much faster and much easier to use.

So the BCA tracker is a great all around beacon. I have taught many friends to use this beacon and love how easy it is to use. From the no nonsense button to switch to search, to the diagram that shows you how to put the beacon on ,BCA has thought of everything to keep you safe. The one downside of this beacon is when dealing with multiple signals. However this is the beacon that I trust my life to and I wouldnt trust my life to any other brand.
