Austin Smith lets his riding speak for itself. Originally from Bellingham, WA, Austin moved with his family to Bend, Oregon as a teenager. Austin quickly made a name for himself, capturing the closing segment from Mack Dawg's "We're People Too" and earning himself both Rookie of The Year and Video Part of The Year Honors.
After gaining sponsorships from Nike, Nitro, Smith, and Dakine Austin had a year plagued with knee injuries. This led Austin and close friend Brian Fox on a quest to emphasize the importance of taking care of your body. What started out as simply scribing "Drink Water" on their boards as a movement to find alternatives to energy drinks, quickly became a movement embraced by many action sports enthusiasts who decided energy drinks weren't for them.
Stickers and shirts were made and demand quickly grew to the point where they were selling them and donating proceeds to water.org. In addition Austin and the Drink Water crew host the Rat Race at High Cascade every summer. Its banked slalom/Helltrack course draws some of the world's top riders and has raised nearly $30k for clean drinking water.
