Dynafit Mercury TF Alpine Touring Ski Boots 2013

After two seasons of fast-and-light ski tourists singing the praises of Dynafit's TLT 5 Series boots, the Ultra-Lock Buckle System is being expanded to a new line of performance "free touring" boots for 2013. The Dynafit Mercury TF Alpine Touring Ski Boot is the middle offering in the lineup, both in price and stiffness, and uses Grilamid® for both the cuff and shell construction. The Ultra-Lock system drops the weight of this high performance boot to 1600 grams, and a new dual-pivot top buckle design helps keep it from catching on rocks and branches on the ascent. With an incredible cuff rotation range of 60˚ but near alpine stiffness for the descent once buckled up, this boot will let you rock the skintrack on the way up and still ski like you always have on the down.
Fit
103 mm last
Liner
Dynafit TF Liner - Thermoformable TF liner is heat moldable, warm and comfy. This liner features unique flex zones and optional lacing.
Shell Materials
Shell - Grilamid® construction for stiffness without the weight
Cuff - Fiberglass reinforced Grilamid®
Insulation - A special expanded polyurethane layer is glued inside the shell for warmth.
Stance
Adjustable Forward Lean - 15˚- 18˚ and release mode for walking/skinning
Cuff Rotation - 60˚ rotation for maximum skinning efficiency
Ski/Walk Mode
Ski/walk mode with 60˚ cuff rotation is activated by top Ultra-Lock buckle.
Driving Spoiler - The rear spoiler slides inside the cuff for the widest possible range of movement while skinning.
Removable Downhill Booster Tongue - This stiff tongue allows you to drive even the biggest of skis but can be removed for skinning.
Buckles
3 buckles
Central Buckle - Anatomically placed in line with the shell pivot point to pull your heel directly into the heel pocket and keep the shell from deflecting
Ultra-Lock Upper Buckle - The Ultra-Lock system doubles as a closure mechanism and lean lock, doing away with the weight and bulk of traditional lean/lock systems. The double-hinging buckle lies flatter to avoid catching on rocks and bushes while climbing.
Buckle Cable Retention System - Central and cuff buckles are equipped with a special retention system that prevents them from opening regardless of tension.
Power Strap
Switch Power Strap - VELCRO® Brand Fastener power strap can be fixed to the tongue for easier tongue removal and to prevent flapping while skinning.
Sole
Dynafit Pro Touring Sole - Rubber touring sole with harder plastic TPU "pegs" in contact areas for better skiing response with non-tech bindings
Quick Step In Inserts - Dynafits patented Quick Step-In Inserts make stepping into Dynafit bindings a breeze.

Comments about Dynafit Mercury TF Alpine Touring Ski Boots 2013:

Finally a tech touring boot with stiffness that compares to a performance alpine boot! The Mercury has a more progressive flex than the more expensive Vulcan and shares the same cuff range of motion and fit. This boot has the power to drive the biggest skis at any speed you choose. The 103mm forefoot spec is a bit misleading; this boot is quite narrow in the midfoot with a moderately low instep and may not work for wide or high volume feet. Getting the removable tongue to go in and out in the field is a bit of a chore, but it's possible to ski well without it. If you can get this boot to fit, go for it!
