Whitecap, BC

The terrain around Whitecap and the McGillivray Pass area is virtually limitless, and offers something for everyone. You’ll want to be comfortable in ungroomed and variable snow conditions and in good physical shape to handle the challenges you’ll find here, but everything from mellow, wide open powder fields to steep and committing couloirs is yours for the shredding.

All groups touring out of Whitecap will be fully guided, both to make the best use of the terrain and for your own safety. If that sounds tame, rest assured it’s not – experts will find plenty to test their ability, while newcomers to touring won’t feel hopelessly out of their element. Trust your guides to find the best snow on any given day – that can be anything from a glorious open summit in full sun to awesome lower elevation tree skiing if it’s storming.

You’ll need to make sure your touring gear – skis or splitboard, skins, bindings and boots – is dialed and comfortable before you arrive, as there will be limited opportunities for adjustment once you’re here.  Make sure your avalanche gear is in good order and you know how to use it as well – you’ll have some opportunity to practice at Whitecap, but more practice doesn’t hurt.
