Comments about Thule Portage Canoe Gunwale Brackets:

Was hoping the flip design of these brackets would make putting on/removing them from racks much easier. They are easier, but still require a lot of thumb screwing of both sides. The wing nut does not require complete removal from the bracket, though, so no chasing it down when I accidentially drop it. They hold the canoe very well and I don't worry about it shifting during transport. Am always surprised at how much these types of things cost, however. You do get all the straps and tie downs as well, but at this point they are just extras as I have multiples of those already. A cheaper option that doesn't include the straps would have been nice. Overall very happy with them so far.
